Fire Doors

Fire doors is a door with a fire-resistant rating used as part of a passive fire protection system to reduce the spread of fire & smoke between separate compartments within the building.

All fire doors are manufactured, tested and certified in compliance with BS476 Part 22, 1987 fire safety regulations.

Intumescent Strips

An intumescent strip is a graphite based fire sealing product contained within a plastic sleeve for fitting into a rebate of either the door leaves or the door frame. The intumescent strip expands when the heat from a fire comes in contact and seals the gap around the door to provide a safe and effective barrier against the passage of fire &smoke.

Ironmongery

Fire Doors require certified Ironmongery such as hinges, closers, locks and latches which should be CE marked and CERTIFIRE approved and are vital to the fire resistance performance of the door assembly.

  • Hinges comply to annex B of BS EN 1935 – And are CERTIFIRE Approved. Made of metal with melting point above 800°C.
  • Mortice or tubular mortice comply with BS EN 12209. These may be lockable or un-lockable types depending on door requirements
  • Closers (on non-latched doors) MUST be CERTIFIRE Approved
